Working with nature rather than against it, we design living landscapes that nurture people and the land.

Paying attention

Weather, light, texture, scent; place is a bodily encounter, it can’t be fully experienced through a screen. When we first arrive on site, we walk, we notice, we draw – these physical sensations and emotional responses form the basis of our design work.

We stay curious and open-minded to understand the landscape as it stands today, before imagining all that it might become. Moving through deep research into creative concepts, we honour these initial impressions and let them inspire and guide us.

Creating lasting legacies

Landscapes are constantly evolving, but as a practice we design for resilience and longevity. We want to see our work unfold over many years, becoming ever-richer in diversity and character. Our role is to provide the long-term structure to support the landscape as it matures and changes, working with nature, not against it. We prioritise reuse, locally sourced materials, and the raw beauty of naturalistic planting to restore habitats and enhance the wider context.

A collective endeavour

Our approach is grounded in collaboration. We engage our clients and partners through every stage of the process, encouraging critical thinking and shared ownership. Getting stuck into the practical details of making and maintaining places, we work closely with local specialists like plantspeople and craftspeople to ensure that every aspect – hard and soft, seasonal and permanent – is connected to the whole.
